What happens to Food?

Ingestion

  • Food goes into the mouth In
  • Chew up food/Mastication 
  • Swalllow food witch sends the broken down food/Bolus down our oesophagus

  • when bolus is swallowed it is moved down the oesophagus in a wavey motion to prevent the food being pushed back up the process is called peristalsis  

stomach

The oesophagus leads to the stomach
The stomach can hold up to 2-4 liters of food

Small intestines

The small intestine lies beyween the stomach and the large intestine



Digistion

The small intestine where absorption of nutriesnts take place. Proties have been broken down in the stomach by enzymes from saliva
